A drop in the ocean

This week was really hard because I had no idea for writing my blog. It took me ages to find a topic. So I asked Katja if she has an idea. While she spend some time yesterday at my house I finally found my topic, 'A drop in the ocean' a song written by Ron Pope. Katja and me played some guitar and she showed me how play 'a drop in the ocean'.
It's a really nice song. Ron Pope just plays some chords and emphasizes his beautiful voice.

Ron Pope
Ron Michael Pope was born in Georgia ( 23th July 1983 ). He grew up in Marietta, Georgia . His music success started with the song 'a drop in the ocean' not just in the US also international.

Here are the lyrics:

A Drop in the ocean a change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It´s like a wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most
Cause you are my heaven
I don´t wanna waste the weekend If you don´t love me, pretend
A few more hours then it´s time to go
as my train rolles down the eastcoast, I wonder how you keep warm
it's to late to cry, to broken to move on
and still I can´t let you be
Most nights I hardly sleep
don't seek what you don't need for me
It's just A Drop in the ocean, a change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It´s like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most
Cause you are my heaven

Missplaced trust and old friends
never counting regrets by the grace of god
I do not rest at all
New England, there´s the leave change
the last excuse that I claim
I was a boy who loved a woman like a little girl
And still I can't let you be
Most nights I hardly sleep
Don´t seek what you don´t need for me
It's just A Drop in the ocean, a change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It´s like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most
Cause you are my
Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore
Heaven doesn't seem far away
Heaven doesn't seem far away anymore
Heaven doesn't seem far away
A Drop in the ocean a change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It´s like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I'm holding you closer than most
Cause you are my heaven
You are my heaven

I never heard the song before and I really enjoy listen to the song. It's peaceful and nice written. The only thing I don't understand in the song is the part 'I was a boy who loved a woman like a little girl'
Loved a woman like a little girl? He is a boy I would understand the lyric when he would say 'like a little boy' because he is a boy. Maybe you have an idea what he wants to say with the part =).
Hope you like listen to the song and thank you Katja for giving me a favour ;-)

  6. know (and love :) this song too. and I think he maybe means he loved a woman, someone who is propably older or more elaborated (=unreachable for him) in the way he would have loved a girl (someone his age etc)
It could be that way, but maybe this is too much interpretation into that little line...

  7. I'm afraid I cannot help with the interpretation ...
The only thing I figured out: there's an alliteration "Loved a woman Like a Litlle girl" :-)

However, in most songs there are lines you just cannot make sense of. That's probably the artistic freedom :-)
